What does it mean to be seen?
After church this morning I got to sit briefly with a young father. We shared about where we worked and where we'd studied - but I also received a gift from him. Something intangible but worth so much more than any item he ever could've handed to me. He blessed me with his words:
'I have seen you in the back, running sound, helping to make things happen for the church. For those up front and seen by everyone. You might feel unseen, but I see you. I see the service you are offering to the body of Christ and it is not something small. It is faithful. It is being faithful in what you might perceive as a small thing, but I believe in God's eyes it is a big thing.'
If you've ever wondered, like I have, if your presence matters to anyone, yes, it does. Faithfully showing up, making the commitment to your local body of Christ, serving where and how you can - according to this young father, whether it's 'cleaning the bathrooms or preaching from the front,' - you matter. (For the record, I 100% agree!)
Your faithfulness matters. God asks us to be faithful in the small things in order to be trusted with the big things. Are you showing up faithfully? If not, why not?
God sees you. He is the God Who Sees. Rejoice in being seen and loved for who you truly are.
